About This Specialisation
BIT Mesra (Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra) is a deemed university established in 1955 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Among all BIT Mesra MBA specialisations, Business Analytics is the most natural extension of the institute's engineering and technology heritage.
The alignment is straightforward. Business Analytics requires statistical modelling, data visualisation, predictive analytics, machine learning fundamentals, and database querying. These are skills that engineering institutions teach at the undergraduate level. BIT Mesra's faculty, lab infrastructure, and research output in computer science and IT directly support the Business Analytics MBA curriculum.
This is not a case of a liberal arts university adding a trendy analytics spec. BIT Mesra has been producing engineers and technologists for 70 years. The Business Analytics MBA taps into that existing institutional capability.
NAAC A accredited. UGC-DEB approved for online mode. NIRF #92 in University category and #54 in Engineering.
BIT Mesra is NOT the same as BITS Pilani. These are completely different institutions with separate managements, campuses, and rankings. BIT Mesra is governed by the BIT Trust (Ranchi). BITS Pilani is governed by the Birla Education Trust (Pilani).

Talk to counsellorStudent Reviews — Business Analytics
Three reviews from BIT Mesra Online MBA Business Analytics students. Ratings reflect individual experience.
I'm a software engineer moving into analytics. BIT Mesra was the obvious choice because the engineering foundation means the analytics subjects are taught with real technical depth. The predictive analytics and data visualisation modules were practical. What surprised me was how well the business subjects (strategy, marketing) complemented the technical analytics courses. The BIT Mesra engineering alumni network in Hyderabad's IT sector helped me get referrals for analytics roles. The main gap is that the online MBA community is small, so peer learning is limited.
Liked: BIT Mesra's engineering heritage makes the Business Analytics MBA feel authentic. The statistical modelling and predictive analytics subjects had genuine technical depth, not just tool tutorials
Disliked: The online MBA is newer, so the specific MBA Business Analytics alumni community is very small. Engineering alumni help, but MBA-specific networking is limited
I chose BIT Mesra for Business Analytics because an engineering institution teaching analytics makes more sense than a commerce university adding analytics as an afterthought. The data mining and statistical analysis subjects had depth. The Python-oriented approach to analytics tools was practical. The limitation is brand awareness for the MBA. When I mention BIT Mesra, people assume BTech. I have to explain the MBA programme exists. For the actual learning and institutional capability, it is solid.
Liked: NIRF #54 Engineering rank gives the degree credibility for analytics roles where employers value quantitative institutional backgrounds
Disliked: BIT Mesra is known for BTech, not MBA. Some recruiters on LinkedIn did not recognise that BIT Mesra offers an MBA programme
The Business Analytics curriculum was the strongest part of my experience. The statistical foundations, predictive modelling, and data visualisation subjects were well-structured. I could apply learnings directly to my work in supply chain analytics. The BIT Mesra brand helped during interviews because my interviewer was a BIT alumnus and respected the institutional quality. The weak points are career services (minimal for online MBA) and the small MBA peer network. For self-motivated professionals who want genuine analytics depth from a credible institution, it works.
Liked: The cross-pollination with BIT Mesra's engineering faculty gave the analytics subjects a technical rigour that pure B-school analytics programmes lack
Disliked: Career services for online MBA students need significant improvement. The placement infrastructure serves BTech students, not online MBA learners
