- ✓Is the Adichunchanagiri University online MBA UGC approved?
- ✓What is the real fee for the Adichunchanagiri online MBA?
- ✓Why do some sites say the fee starts at Rs 75,000?
Last updated 15 September 2026 by Rishi Kumar, Senior Education Researcher and Founder, EdifyEdu. Fees, accreditation and entitlement checked against the university's own portals, the UGC-DEB programme register, and NAAC records.
Adichunchanagiri University sits in B G Nagara, a town in Mandya district about 90 minutes from Bengaluru. Its online MBA keeps appearing in Karnataka comparison lists at a price the university does not charge.
That gap is the reason this page exists. The programme is real, it is entitled, and the fee is clean and single-tier. But three things circulating about it are wrong, and one of them could cost you ₹75,000 of budgeting error.
The fee that circulates is not the fee you pay
A figure of ₹75,000 is widely attached to this programme as a starting price. The university's own online portal does not support it. There is one fee, and there is no cheaper tier to start from.
Here is what the portal lists for Indian and SAARC students.
| Component | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Semester fee | ₹35,000 | Each of 4 semesters |
| Annual fee plan | ₹70,000 | Alternative to paying per semester |
| Total programme fee | ₹1,40,000 | Across 2 years |
| University registration fee | ₹2,000 | One time |
| Examination fee | ₹4,000 | Per year, so ₹8,000 over the degree |
| All in, on the university's own figures | ₹1,50,000 | 2 years |
The portal also advertises a no-cost EMI starting at ₹6,187 per month. Foreign students are quoted separately at $2,333 total, with a $10 registration fee and $50 per year for examinations.
If you have been comparing this programme against cheaper Karnataka options on the strength of a ₹75,000 entry point, redo that comparison. At ₹1,40,000 it is a mid-tier programme, not a budget one.
One online programme, not a catalogue
This is the detail most listings get wrong. Adichunchanagiri offers exactly one programme online, and it is the MBA.
The UGC-DEB programme register carries a single entry for Adichunchanagiri University, in online mode, for the 2025-26 session. The university's own online portal has one item in its programmes menu. If you have seen it listed as offering an online BBA, BCA or B.Com, that listing is wrong.
This matters in a practical way. A university running one online programme has its whole online operation pointed at your degree, which can work in your favour. It also means there is no internal track record across programmes to judge it by, and no option to switch if the MBA turns out not to suit you.
The A+ is real, recent, and first cycle
ACU holds NAAC A+ with a CGPA of 3.39 out of 4.00. The A+ band runs from 3.26 to 3.50, so 3.39 sits comfortably inside it rather than scraping the boundary. That is a good grade and worth saying so plainly.
Two qualifiers belong next to it. The assessment was the university's first cycle, and it happened in 2024. A first-cycle grade tells you what an assessment team found on one visit. It does not tell you whether standards held across a decade, because there is no second data point yet.
The regulatory timeline is similarly young. UGC recognition under Section 2(f) came in November 2022. The university has therefore been UGC-recognised for under four years and NAAC-accredited for under two.
| Credential | Status | Date | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|---|
| UGC Section 2(f) | Recognised | November 2022 | Nothing about teaching quality, only legal standing |
| UGC Section 12(B) | Listed | Current | Eligibility for central grants, not a quality mark |
| NAAC | A+, CGPA 3.39 | 2024, first cycle | No second cycle to compare it against yet |
| UGC-DEB online entitlement | Entitled, 1 programme | Session 2025-26 | Granted per programme per session, so it is not permanent |
The NIRF rank belongs to Pharmacy, not to this MBA
ACU reports NIRF positions of 78 in 2023 and 83 in 2024. Both sit in the Pharmacy category, earned by its pharmacy college.
The university holds no published rank in the NIRF Management category and none in the University category. Anyone citing "NIRF ranked" as a reason to choose this MBA is moving a pharmacy result onto a management degree.
What the 86 credits actually contain
The programme runs two years across four semesters and carries 86 credits. That splits into 80 credits of coursework and 6 credits of micro-credential courses taken in semesters two, three and four.
The final semester carries a 12-credit project. That is a heavy weighting for applied work, and more than several competing online MBAs allocate.
The curriculum is described as NEP-aligned, with foundation courses in economics, accounting, statistics, ethics and communication, then functional exposure across marketing, finance, HR, operations, banking and analytics, plus modules on emerging technologies and business analytics and a research methods component feeding the capstone.
Micro-credential pathways are not MBA specialisations
ACU Online lists nine micro-credential pathways: Business Analytics, Financial Analysis, Digital Marketing, Sales and Business Development, Banking and Financial Services, Global Accounting and Taxation, Human Resource Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Healthcare and Hospital Management.
Read what those are before treating them as specialisations. They account for 6 credits out of 86. They are short skill courses producing a separate digital credential you can put on a profile.
A specialisation, in the sense most applicants mean, is a named track printed on the degree certificate. A micro-credential pathway is a bolt-on. Both have value, but they are not the same thing, and a page advertising "nine specialisations" for this programme overstates what you receive.
If a named specialisation on the certificate matters to you, ask the admissions office in writing which track is printed, and get the answer before paying. Compare against the menus in our Karnataka online MBA comparison, where several universities do print named tracks.
No published placement data
The portal describes mentorship and placement support, shows hiring partner logos, and names internal initiatives called SEED, 4Cs and ACE. It publishes no placement percentage, no median salary, and no cohort size for the online MBA.
That absence is worth stating rather than filling. Any salary range quoted for this specific programme is almost certainly a category average borrowed from elsewhere, because the university has not released one.
Treat placement support here as access to a service, not as an outcome you have been promised. If placement numbers drive your decision, ask for the online cohort's figures in writing and be ready for them not to exist yet.
Who this suits, and who it does not
| Good fit if | Poor fit if |
|---|---|
| You need a UGC-entitled MBA for a promotion, pay-scale move or DPC eligibility | You are buying a brand recruiters recognise on sight outside Karnataka |
| You want one clean fee with no tier puzzle, and a no-cost EMI route | You want a named specialisation printed on the certificate |
| You value a heavy 12-credit applied project over a wide elective menu | You are comparing on published placement outcomes |
| You are in the Mandya, Mysuru or Bengaluru corridor where the name carries locally | You need a long accreditation record rather than a first-cycle grade |
Check your own entitlement before you pay
Do not check whether the university is approved. Check whether your programme and your intake session are.
Open the UGC-DEB programme register at deb.ugc.ac.in, search for Adichunchanagiri University, and confirm three things: your programme is named, the mode column reads online, and the session matches the year you join. Entitlement is granted programme by programme and session by session, so a university can market something sitting outside its current list.
Then confirm the NAAC grade and its validity window at naac.gov.in, and the recognition status at ugc.gov.in. Our step-by-step UGC-DEB check walks through the screens, and what NAAC and NIRF actually measure explains why a cycle number changes how you read a grade.
The current fee, the EMI split and the accreditation summary sit side by side on the Adichunchanagiri online MBA fee page, and the institution profile on its university page. To model the monthly outflow against your own tenure, use the EMI calculator.

The verdict
Adichunchanagiri's online MBA is a legitimate, entitled degree at ₹1,40,000, and the single-tier pricing is more honest than the multi-tier pricing several larger universities use.
What you are not getting is a track record. A 2022 recognition, a 2024 first-cycle grade, one online programme, and no published placement data together describe an institution early in its online life. That is a reasonable thing to buy if you need the credential and the price fits. It is a poor thing to buy if you need the name to do work for you in an interview.
Buy it for the entitlement and the applied project. Do not buy it for a ₹75,000 price that does not exist, or for a pharmacy ranking that has nothing to do with your degree.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Adichunchanagiri University is recognised by UGC under Section 2(f) since November 2022 and is listed under Section 12(B). The UGC-DEB programme register carries an entry for the university in online mode for the 2025-26 session. Entitlement is granted per programme and per session, so confirm your own intake year at deb.ugc.ac.in before paying.
The university portal lists a semester fee of Rs 35,000, an annual plan of Rs 70,000, and a total programme fee of Rs 1,40,000 across two years. On top of that sit a one-time registration fee of Rs 2,000 and an examination fee of Rs 4,000 per year. Adding the university’s own listed components gives Rs 1,50,000 all in. A no-cost EMI from Rs 6,187 per month is advertised. Fees are indicative and change each intake, so verify on the official portal.
That figure circulates widely but the university’s own online portal does not support it. There is a single fee of Rs 1,40,000 for the two-year programme and no cheaper tier to start from. If you built a shortlist around a Rs 75,000 entry point, the comparison needs redoing, because the real all-in cost is double that.
One. The MBA is the university’s only online programme. The UGC-DEB register carries a single online-mode entry for the university and the ACU Online programmes menu lists only the MBA. Listings that show an online BBA, BCA or B.Com for this university are wrong.

The university holds no published rank in the NIRF Management category and none in the University category. A pharmacy rank tells you nothing about an online MBA. Check the category yourself at nirfindia.org.
Not in the sense most applicants mean. ACU Online lists nine micro-credential pathways including Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, Banking and Financial Services, and Healthcare and Hospital Management. These account for 6 credits of the 86-credit programme and produce a separate digital credential rather than a named track printed on the degree. If a printed specialisation matters to you, ask admissions in writing which track appears on the certificate.
The university publishes none for the online MBA. It describes mentorship and placement support and names internal initiatives, but releases no placement percentage, median salary or cohort size. Any salary figure you see quoted for this specific programme is almost certainly a category average borrowed from elsewhere. Ask for the online cohort’s own figures in writing.
