- ✓How do I apply for Chandigarh University Online?
- ✓Is CU Online admission confirmed when I pay?
- ✓What is the eligibility for CU Online?
Chandigarh University runs its online degrees through its Centre for Distance and Online Education, known as CU Online. Its admission has one feature worth knowing before you start: you pay the programme fee before you upload documents, and every admission stays provisional until verification.
Short answer: you apply at apply.onlinecu.in, linked from onlinecu.in. You register, fill in the application, pay the programme fee, then upload your documents and submit. CU Online's guidelines say all admissions are provisional until your documents are verified and an enrolment number is allocated.
- Where to apply: apply.onlinecu.in, from Apply Now on onlinecu.in
- Order: register, application form, programme fee, document upload
- Status: provisional until documents are verified
- Eligibility: Class 12 for UG; any bachelor's degree, or CA or ICWA, for PG
- UGC-entitled online programmes, 2026-27: 10
What are the steps in CU Online admission?
CU Online's How to Apply page lists four steps:
- Visit onlinecu.in and click Apply Now.
- Register with your full name, email ID, mobile number, programme and date of birth. You get a user ID and password by SMS and email, and you can also log in with your registered email.
- Fill in the application form with personal, contact and qualification details, and pay the programme fee online. The document upload option opens only after payment.
- Upload your documents and a recent passport-size photograph, and submit. You get a confirmation on your registered phone number and email.
The FAQ adds the final stages: verification of documents, then allocation of a university enrolment number. The support team then emails you to confirm admission. Create your DEB ID on the UGC-DEB portal before you enrol. Our explainer on the UGC-DEB ID shows how.
At CU Online the fee comes before the documents. Check your eligibility carefully before you pay, because the admission stays provisional until verification.
Who is eligible, and which documents are needed?
- Postgraduate programmes: a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or a recognised professional qualification such as CA or ICWA.
- Undergraduate programmes: Class 12 or an equivalent in any stream, from a recognised board, university or council.
- Documents: Aadhaar, PAN, passport or voter ID; a photograph; Class 10 and Class 12 certificates; the graduation degree. The FAQ says attested copies must be uploaded.

Which CU Online programmes are UGC-entitled?
For the 2026-27 July session, the UGC-DEB HEI programme register lists ten online programmes at Chandigarh University, a private university in Punjab:
| Level | Programmes (as named in the register) |
|---|---|
| Undergraduate | BBA, BCA, BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) |
| Postgraduate | MBA, MCA, MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), MA Economics, MA English, MSc Data Science, MSc Mathematics |
The onlinecu.in menu shows many specialisations under these programmes. The register lists the programme, not each specialisation. Our guide on how to check UGC-DEB approval shows how to search it, and our check on whether CU Online is legitimate covers its approvals.
What happens after admission?
CU Online's FAQ says you get access to CU-VERSE, its learning management system, through your CUIMS account once admission is confirmed. It has one mandatory live session a week per course, and you need 75% participation in all activities.
Exams are online and proctored, with the end-term exam worth 70% and internal assessment 30%. A two-year PG programme can run to a maximum of four years, and a three-year UG programme to six.
To withdraw, the admission guidelines say you submit a refund or withdrawal application in the prescribed format to the In-Charge, Admission Cell, within the stipulated date, with the original fee receipts. Fees change each session, so check the current fee on onlinecu.in.
Our guide to the UGC fee refund policy explains the national rules. If you are choosing the MBA, our CU online MBA review covers it in depth.
