About This Specialisation

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is one of only four private universities in India to hold Institution of Eminence (IoE) status, declared by the Ministry of Education under UGC (Institutions of Eminence Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2017. This IoE designation grants JGU the autonomy to design innovative programmes, including India's only 1-year fully online MBA.

The Finance specialisation pairs a rigorous management core (Strategic Management, Financial Management, Business Analytics, Marketing, Operations, Leadership) with four elective subjects: Financial Modelling and Data Visualisation, Project Finance, Behavioural Finance, and Principles of Financial Regulation. The programme runs 72 credits in 12 months. This is the same credit load as conventional 2-year MBA programmes, compressed into an accelerated format.

JGU holds AACSB accreditation, a global quality standard met by only about 6% of business schools worldwide and roughly 1% in India. The university is also QS 5 Star rated and UGC recognised. The Finance MBA targets working professionals in banking, corporate finance, investment management, or consulting who need an MBA that respects both their time and their professional standards. How O.P. Jindal Global University Compares for Finance

JGU is a premium-tier 1-year MBA. Comparisons reflect this positioning.

vs MAHE Online MBA (Rs 2,92,000, 2-year, NIRF #3): MAHE offers NIRF #3 ranking and a well-established 2-year format. JGU offers AACSB accreditation (global gold standard), IoE status, and completion in 12 months instead of 24. For working professionals who cannot commit to two years, JGU's accelerated format is the differentiator. MAHE's NIRF ranking carries weight in Indian employer perception. JGU's AACSB carries weight internationally.

vs NMIMS Online MBA (Rs 1,96,000-2,20,000, 2-year): NMIMS carries strong brand recognition in Mumbai's financial services market. JGU offers AACSB accreditation and 1-year completion. NMIMS Finance is deeper on capital markets and investment banking content. JGU Finance covers project finance and financial regulation, which are less common in online MBA programmes. For professionals targeting international career mobility, JGU's AACSB credential is more portable.

vs Amity Online MBA (Rs 2,25,000, 2-year, NIRF #22): Amity offers broad specialisation choices and NIRF #22 at accessible fees. JGU targets a premium segment with AACSB, IoE status, and the 1-year accelerated format. For experienced professionals (5+ years) who value credential quality over fee optimisation, JGU is positioned higher. Amity serves a broader audience including early-career professionals.

Student Reviews — Finance

Three reviews from JGU 1-Year Online MBA Finance learners. Ratings reflect individual experience.

Aditya RanjanMumbai · 2025

I work in project finance at an infrastructure NBFC with 6 years of experience. The 1-year format was the deciding factor. I could not take two years away from active deal flow. The Project Finance and Financial Regulation modules were directly relevant to my daily work. The AACSB tag on the degree has already been noted by two international banks I am in conversation with for lateral roles. The 12-month intensity is real. Expect to put in 15-20 hours per week alongside your job.

Liked: AACSB accreditation carries real weight in international finance circles. Project Finance module was directly applicable to my infrastructure lending role.

Disliked: Fee structure is not transparently listed on the website. Had to contact admissions to get exact numbers.

Sneha KapoorGurgaon · 2025

I manage a mid-cap equity fund and wanted a management degree without losing two years. JGU's 1-year MBA checked that box. The Behavioural Finance elective was the standout. I now use de-biasing frameworks in our investment committee process. The AACSB credential matters in conversations with global institutional investors. The core subjects (Strategy, Analytics, Operations) gave me management breadth I was missing as a pure finance specialist. Intensity is high but manageable for someone already disciplined.

Liked: Behavioural Finance module was genuinely insightful. Changed how I approach investment committee presentations.

Disliked: Financial Modelling module could go deeper on advanced Excel and Python-based modelling techniques.

Vikram DesaiBangalore · 2024

I was comparing JGU with 2-year MBAs from NMIMS and MAHE. JGU's IoE status and AACSB sold me. The Financial Modelling module helped me build better board presentations. The 72-credit load in 12 months is intense but achievable if you plan your weeks. I was promoted to VP Finance within 4 months of completing the degree. The JGU name is growing fast in corporate circles, and the AACSB tag opens doors that other online MBAs do not.

Liked: IoE status and AACSB accreditation give genuine confidence in the degree's long-term value.

Disliked: No campus placement support, which is expected for a working professional programme but should be clearly stated upfront.

  • You want a premium MBA credential from an institution ranked alongside IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras in the IoE category.
