About This Specialisation

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is one of only four private universities in India to hold Institution of Eminence (IoE) status, declared by the Ministry of Education under UGC (Institutions of Eminence Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2017. This IoE designation grants JGU the autonomy to design innovative programmes, including India's only 1-year fully online MBA.

The Human Resource Management specialisation pairs a rigorous management core (Strategic Management, Financial Management, Business Analytics, Marketing, Operations, Leadership) with four HR elective subjects: Performance Management, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, and Employee Wellbeing. The programme runs 72 credits in 12 months, the same credit load as conventional 2-year MBA programmes compressed into an accelerated format.

JGU holds AACSB accreditation, a global quality standard met by only about 6% of business schools worldwide and roughly 1% in India. The university is also QS 5 Star rated and UGC recognised. The HRM MBA targets HR professionals in talent management, HR business partnering, organisational development, or total rewards who need a management degree that matches their professional ambitions without a two-year pause. Student Reviews — Human Resource Management

Three reviews from JGU 1-Year Online MBA HRM learners. Ratings reflect individual experience.

Priya MenonBangalore · 2025

I have been an HRBP at a mid-size tech company for 5 years. The 1-year format was the only reason I pursued an MBA. I could not justify two years off from active workforce planning cycles. The Talent Management module helped me redesign our succession planning framework. Employee Wellbeing gave me data-backed arguments for our mental health programme. The AACSB tag matters when I speak with our global HR leadership. Promoted to Senior HRBP within 3 months of completing the programme.

Liked: Talent Management and Employee Wellbeing modules were directly applicable to my HRBP role at a tech company.

Disliked: Fee information is not listed on the website. Had to speak with admissions to understand the full cost.

Rahul SharmaDelhi · 2025

I lead total rewards at a manufacturing conglomerate with 8 years in HR. Wanted an MBA to move into a CHRO-track role. JGU's 1-year format and AACSB accreditation were the deciding factors over 2-year alternatives. The Compensation and Benefits elective was the most practical module I have taken in any educational programme. I built a pay equity audit framework during the coursework that we implemented company-wide. The IoE status gives me confidence this degree will hold value for the next 10-15 years.

Liked: Performance Management module changed how I design appraisal cycles. Compensation and Benefits gave me benchmarking frameworks I use weekly.

Disliked: The 12-month intensity is genuinely demanding. Expect 15-20 hours per week if you are working full-time.

Anjali GuptaHyderabad · 2024

I was a talent acquisition manager wanting to transition to a broader HR leadership role. The core MBA subjects were as valuable as the HR electives. Financial Management and Business Analytics gave me the business language to sit at leadership tables. The AACSB credential was recognised when I applied for a Head of People role at a Series C startup. Got the offer. The 72 credits in 12 months is intense but structured well enough to manage alongside a full-time role.

Liked: Core subjects (Strategy, Analytics, Financial Management) gave me business acumen that HR professionals often lack.

Disliked: No placement support, which is expected for a working professional programme but should be communicated clearly during admission.

Choose Human Resource Management If... / Consider Alternatives If...

Choose This If

  • You are an HR professional with 3-8 years of experience who wants an MBA completed in 12 months, not 24, without compromising on credential quality.
  • You value AACSB accreditation and IoE status for global HR roles at MNCs or international career mobility.
  • You want a premium MBA credential that gives you business acumen alongside HR specialisation to move into CHRO-track positions.

Consider Alternatives If

  • You are early in your career (0-2 years) and need campus placement support. JGU's 1-year MBA is designed for working professionals, not entry-level hiring pipelines.
  • You want the lowest possible fee for an HR MBA. JGU is premium-priced. Consider IGNOU or LPU for budget-optimised options.
  • You want deep labour law and industrial relations coverage. JGU's HRM electives focus on talent management, performance, compensation, and wellbeing rather than legal and compliance tracks.
