Three universities. Three fee points. Three different things they are good at. Online Manipal runs MBA programs through MAHE, MUJ, and SMU, and if you are searching for the right one, the honest answer is that they are not interchangeable. This page covers all three in detail, with fees, specialisations, eligibility, and what students have said, so you can pick the one that fits your situation.

Program details are sourced from the official Online Manipal website and individual university pages. Student feedback is drawn from Quora, official testimonials, and independent review platforms.

About Online Manipal

Online Manipal is the digital learning platform of the Manipal Group, one of India's oldest education groups. It brings together programs from three universities: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Karnataka, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) in Rajasthan, and Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in Sikkim. All programs are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, delivered through the same LMS with live sessions, recorded lectures, remote-proctored exams, and a shared placement portal. The annual Ekam event brings online students together in person for networking, which is unusual for an online program.

All three Online Manipal MBAs are UGC-DEB entitled, AICTE approved, and fully equivalent to on-campus degrees. The degrees are recognised by WES for use in the US and Canada. Placement data across all three shows an average package of Rs 5.49 LPA and highest package of Rs 14.03 LPA.

MAHE: Best Brand, Built for Working Professionals

Established in 1953, MAHE holds NAAC A++ accreditation and NIRF rank 3 overall in India for 2024. It has Institution of Eminence (IoE) status granted by the Ministry of Education and sits at rank 197 in Asia in QS rankings. For anyone who wants the strongest institutional brand of the three, MAHE is it.

The MAHE MBA requires minimum one year of work experience. Fresh graduates can apply but need to submit an SOP video. This is a deliberate design choice. The 9 specialisations are: Finance, Marketing, HRM, Business Analytics, Data Science, Healthcare Management, Pharmaceutical Management, Information Systems, and Operations. The healthcare and pharma tracks are rare in online MBAs and attract professionals from those sectors. Coursera access is bundled in.

Fee: Rs 2,92,000 total. Rs 73,000 per semester. EMI from Rs 12,167 per month. Scholarships up to 20% available.

MAHE is the only campus that requires work experience. If you are a fresh graduate without an SOP video ready, MUJ or SMU is a better starting point. The brand premium is real, but so is the fee difference of Rs 1.17 lakh over MUJ and Rs 1.82 lakh over SMU.

MUJ: 13 Specialisations, QS Ranked, Mid-Range Price

Manipal University Jaipur was established in 2011. It holds NAAC A+ accreditation and NIRF management rank 81 for 2025. The MUJ MBA is QS ranked, one of the first online programs in India to achieve that, and offers the widest specialisation range of the three at 13 tracks.

Semester 1-2
Core Foundations
Business fundamentals, finance, marketing, HR, operations. Same for all students regardless of specialisation choice.
Semester 3-4
Super or Dual Specialisation
Choose one track (super specialisation) or two tracks (dual specialisation) from 13 available. Coursera certifications bundled in.

MUJ requires either a CAT score of 40 percentile or clearing MUJ's online aptitude test. This is the only entry assessment of the three. No work experience required. Fee: Rs 1,75,000 total. Rs 43,750 per semester. EMI from Rs 7,292 per month.

The 13 MUJ specialisations are: Finance, Marketing, HRM, Analytics and Data Science, Digital Marketing, BFSI, IT and FinTech, Operations Management, International Business, Information Systems Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Retail Management.

SMU: Lowest Fee, Dual Specialisation Built In

Sikkim Manipal University was established in 1995 and holds NAAC A+ accreditation with NIRF university rank 64 for 2024. At Rs 1,10,000 total, it is the most affordable, and it is the only program where dual specialisation is built into the structure at no extra cost.

Marketing is compulsory as the first specialisation. For the second, students choose from Finance, HR, Systems, or Operations and Supply Chain Management. Healthcare is also available. Assessment is 30 percent continuous and 70 percent term-end. Students need at least 40 percent in each part independently.

Fee: Rs 1,10,000 total. Rs 27,500 per semester. EMI from Rs 4,583 per month. 10 percent concession on full upfront payment. No entrance exam required.

Student Reviews

Official Testimonials and Quora
"
After a 10-year break from academics, I chose to pursue an online MBA to acquire practical skills for my current role at Aditya Birla Group. The flexibility was genuine and the curriculum was practical.
"
Weekend classes and recorded sessions help me manage personal life and education in one go. The Ekam annual event was genuinely useful for networking, which I did not expect from an online program.
"
The MAHE online MBA is in-depth and easy to follow. The LMS lets me revisit lectures and track my progress. The mentorship facility is genuinely accessible, not just a name on a website.
"
I would not recommend any online MBA for job pursuit alone. But among online programs the LMS quality at Online Manipal is genuinely better than most. The Coursera access adds real tangible value.
Across reviews on Quora, official testimonials, and CollegeVidya: the LMS quality, faculty access, and flexibility are consistently praised. Where students have honest doubts is on placement outcomes for freshers. For working professionals who already have a career to build on, the programs deliver what they advertise.
