SRM Institute of Science and Technology runs its online degrees through a Directorate of Online Education with its own admission portal. This guide sets out what that portal asks for, who is eligible and what happens after you apply, from SRM's own admission FAQ.
Short answer: you apply for an SRM online degree at admissions.srmonline.in, the portal linked from srmonline.in. You register, fill in the form, pay the application fee online and upload your documents.
SRM confirms admission after document verification, once you pay the first-semester fee. On 4 November 2026 the site showed admissions open for the January 2027 session.
- Admission portal: admissions.srmonline.in (domestic and international gateways)
- Session shown: January 2027
- UGC-entitled online programmes, 2026-27: MBA, MCA, M.Com, BBA (Digital Marketing), BCA (Data Science)
- MBA entrance test: waived for two or more years of experience after graduation, or a CAT, MAT, GMAT or GRE score
- Admission confirmed: after document verification and the first-semester fee
Where is the SRM online admission portal?
The Directorate of Online Education at SRM Institute of Science and Technology runs srmonline.in. Its Apply Now links lead to the admission portal at admissions.srmonline.in, titled "Online Application Form". The portal has two gateways: one for domestic students and one for international students. New applicants register; applicants who have already started log in to continue.
SRM's FAQ says the application is accepted in online mode only, and payments go through net banking, credit or debit card or UPI. Demand drafts are not accepted. The FAQ also says you get SMS and email reminders after each step of the application.
How does the SRM online admission process work?
- Choose your programme on srmonline.in and click Apply Now.
- Register on the admission portal with your basic details.
- Pay the application fee online. The FAQ lists the amount for Indian and international applicants.
- Upload your documents. SRM publishes a "Proof of Documents" list on its FAQ page.
- Wait for the eligibility check. SRM contacts you if you are found eligible.
- Pay the first-semester fee. Admission is confirmed after document verification and this payment.
SRM's FAQ says it does not keep original certificates, and that an incomplete or incorrectly filled form may be rejected. Before you enrol, create your DEB ID on the UGC-DEB portal. Our explainer on the UGC-DEB ID covers how.
Admission at SRM online is confirmed by two things: verified documents and the first-semester fee. Until both are done, you hold an application, not a seat.
Who is eligible for SRM online programmes?
These are the domestic eligibility rules in SRM's admission FAQ, in short form:
| Programme | Eligibility (domestic, from SRM's FAQ) |
|---|---|
| MBA | Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with 50% in the qualifying exam, or an equivalent such as CA, CS or ICWA |
| MCA | Any bachelor's degree with at least 50%, preferably with mathematics or statistics at Class 12 or graduation. Learners without a mathematics background must complete a bridge course |
| M.Com | Listed on SRM's downloadable course eligibility sheet. Check it before you apply |
| BBA | Class 12, or Class 10 plus a 3-year diploma, from a recognised board including NIOS, with 50% |
| BCA | Class 12 with 50% and at least one of mathematics, business mathematics, statistics or allied mathematics, or a 3-year engineering diploma with 50% |
The FAQ says there is no age limit. International applicants with foreign qualifications need an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.
Is there an entrance test for the SRM online MBA?
It depends on your experience. SRM's FAQ sets two routes:
- Working professionals with at least two years of management or professional experience after graduation: no entrance test, but an online personal interview.
- Applicants without that experience: an entrance test and an online personal interview. A CAT, MAT, GMAT or GRE qualification exempts you from SRM's test.
The FAQ lists eleven MBA specialisations, from finance, marketing and HR to business analytics, logistics, healthcare and hospital management, and pharmaceutical management, with some added from the July 2024, 2025 and 2026 sessions. Confirm the specialisation on your offer letter.
Which SRM online programmes are UGC-entitled?
For the 2026-27 July session, the UGC-DEB HEI programme register lists five online programmes at SRM Institute of Science and Technology: the Master of Business Administration, Master of Computer Applications, Master of Commerce, BBA (Digital Marketing) and BCA (Data Science).
The diplomas and certificates on srmonline.in are not degree programmes and are not on that register.
Under Regulation 22 of the UGC ODL and Online Regulations, 2020, an entitled online degree is equivalent to the campus degree. SRM's FAQ adds that the degree certificate names the online mode. Our guide on how to check UGC-DEB approval shows how to confirm a programme yourself.
What is SRM's refund policy for online programmes?
For UG and PG programmes in the July 2026 session, SRM's FAQ publishes this refund schedule. The application fee is not refunded in any case, and diploma and certificate courses carry no refund.
| When you withdraw | Fee refunded |
|---|---|
| 15 days or more before the notified last date of admission | 100% |
| Less than 15 days before the last date | 90% |
| 15 days or less after the last date | 80% |
| 16 to 30 days after the last date | 50% |
| More than 30 days after the last date | 0% |
The "notified last date" is the date SRM announces for the session, so ask for it in writing when you apply. Our guide to the UGC fee refund policy explains the national rules that sit behind schedules like this one.
How do SRM online exams work?
SRM's FAQ says end-semester exams are taken through the student portal in remote proctored mode, twice a year in July and December. Each paper lasts two and a half hours, in a morning or afternoon slot in Indian Standard Time.
You need a laptop or desktop with a webcam and microphone, plus a mobile phone to scan and upload answers.
Weekly assessments are compulsory, and you need 75% participation in online activities before the end-semester exam. An examination fee is charged per subject on top of tuition. Our guide on how online degree exams work in India explains remote proctoring in general.
Fees and contacts
SRM publishes per-semester fees on its FAQ page. Fees change each session, so check the current figure on srmonline.in and keep the written fee schedule with your admission receipt. For admission queries, SRM lists admissions.srmonline@srmist.edu.in and the phone numbers +91-044-27455510 and +91-044-47437500 for Indian students.
