About This Specialisation

Events is a project management discipline with an unusual risk profile: a fixed date, a live audience, and no opportunity to fix anything afterwards. That is why the risk and costing subjects matter more here than the creative ones.

The subjects are Event Planning and Production, Culture and Entertainment Management, Event Risk Management, Event Marketing Campaign, Principles of Event Management, and Budgeting and Costing of Events.

Event Risk Management and Budgeting and Costing are the two to judge this on. Events fail commercially through cost overrun and operationally through crowd, weather and supplier failure. Both are teachable and both are usually learned expensively on the job.

The realistic caveat: this is a sector that hires on portfolio. A degree supports a move into management within events, and it does not substitute for having run things.

Two things are common to every Chandigarh specialisation and worth pricing separately from the subject list. AI for Managers appears in all of them, so the AI exposure is not unique to the technical tracks. And the programme runs in two tiers, where the higher tier bundles PwC co-taught modules and additional certification. Ask which tier your fee quote covers, because the subject list does not change between them.

Chandigarh University's NAAC A+ accreditation cycle carried a validity date of September 2026, so confirm the current grade at naac.gov.in before you rely on it.

Fees quoted here are indicative and change between intakes. Confirm the current figure, which tier it buys, the early-bird terms and what sits outside the tuition with the university in writing before you pay.

This Event Management MBA syllabus maps to the following India's events and entertainment sector:

Industries: Corporate events, MICE, wedding management, entertainment production, sports events, government ceremonies, experiential marketing

Entry-level roles: Event Coordinator, MICE Executive, Wedding Planner (junior), Event Marketing Associate, Production Assistant

Mid-level roles (3-5 years experience): Event Manager, MICE Manager, Entertainment Producer, Sponsorship Manager, Experiential Marketing Manager

Senior roles (7+ years): General Manager (event company), VP Events, Head of Entertainment (hotel chain), Director of Sponsorship, COO (event management firm)

Where to verify placement claims: ask Chandigarh University for its most recent placement report, in writing, covering your specific programme and mode. Online cohorts are often reported separately from on-campus ones, or not at all. EdifyEdu does not publish employer lists we cannot source, so treat the roles above as the job families this syllabus maps to, not as a record of who has hired from this cohort.

Skills You Develop

The outcome is being able to take an event from brief to delivery without the budget or the risk register getting away from you.

Budgeting and Costing of Events covers the commercial structure: cost build-up, contingency, sponsorship and ticketing revenue, and the break-even arithmetic that should decide whether an event happens at all.

Event Risk Management covers crowd safety, weather and venue contingency, supplier failure and the insurance and liability structure around a live event.

Event Planning and Production covers the operational core, from run sheets and supplier coordination to the sequencing that decides whether a build finishes on time.

Event Marketing Campaign covers audience acquisition against a fixed date, which is a harder marketing problem than it looks because demand cannot be deferred. Culture and Entertainment Management covers programming and the content side.

How Chandigarh University Compares for Event Management

Comparing Chandigarh Online MBA Event Management against peer programmes:

vs Amity Online MBA Hospitality Management: Amity's Hospitality Management programme at NIRF Management rank 49 covers hotel and resort operations, F&B management, and hospitality revenue management. It is the closest Amity online equivalent for events and tourism professionals, but does not include dedicated Event Management subjects: event risk management, cultural and entertainment events management, vendor management for events, or event ROI and budgeting. For professionals targeting corporate events, cultural festivals, entertainment events, and MICE sector management, CU's dedicated Event Management specialisation is more directly applicable. CU's advantage is NIRF Management rank 32 and PwC advisory content (Tier 2) adding risk and commercial frameworks for large-scale events. Fee: CU Rs 1,65,000 Tier 1 vs Amity's higher fee tier.

vs Manipal Jaipur Online MBA (event or hospitality track): MUJ has a strong hospitality brand but does not offer a dedicated Event Management specialisation. CU's dedicated programme with Event Risk Management, Culture and Entertainment Management, and Budgeting and Costing is more complete for event professionals.

vs standalone Event Management diplomas: Many diploma programmes exist in India's events sector. An MBA in Event Management from a NAAC A+, NIRF Management rank 32 adds management credibility, corporate employer recognition, and long-term career mobility that diplomas cannot match. The CU MBA also satisfies eligibility for management-grade roles in BFSI and FMCG corporate events teams.
