About This Specialisation

This is the least conventional specialisation in the Chandigarh set, and it needs the clearest framing. It is a management degree that takes the international political environment as its subject, not a policy degree and not a route into diplomatic service.

The subjects are International Political Economy, Foreign Policy Analysis, Trade and Economic Diplomacy, Global Governance and International Organisations, Geopolitics and Business, and International Trade Law and Dispute Resolution.

Geopolitics and Business is the subject that justifies the combination. Supply chains, market access and investment decisions are now shaped by political alignment in ways they were not a decade ago, and most managers have no framework for it.

International Trade Law and Dispute Resolution is the most concretely usable. Trade remedies, dispute mechanisms and the rules governing market access have direct commercial consequences.

Be realistic. Diplomatic careers run through competitive examinations, not through an MBA. This suits corporate government affairs, trade bodies, risk advisory and international business development.

Two things are common to every Chandigarh specialisation and worth pricing separately from the subject list. AI for Managers appears in all of them, so the AI exposure is not unique to the technical tracks. And the programme runs in two tiers, where the higher tier bundles PwC co-taught modules and additional certification. Ask which tier your fee quote covers, because the subject list does not change between them.

Chandigarh University's NAAC A+ accreditation cycle carried a validity date of September 2026, so confirm the current grade at naac.gov.in before you rely on it.

Fees quoted here are indicative and change between intakes. Confirm the current figure, which tier it buys, the early-bird terms and what sits outside the tuition with the university in writing before you pay.

Who Hires International Relations MBAs

This International Relations MBA syllabus maps to the following government, multilateral, and private sector international roles:

Industries: Government trade ministries, Indian Foreign Service-adjacent roles, multilateral organisations, multinational government affairs, trade associations, international consulting, and export-oriented businesses

Entry-level roles: Trade Analyst, Government Affairs Executive, International Business Development Executive, Policy Research Associate, Multilateral Affairs Officer

Mid-level roles (3-5 years experience): Trade Policy Manager, Government Affairs Manager, Country Entry Strategist, Geopolitical Risk Analyst, International Business Manager

Senior roles (7+ years): Director of Government Affairs, Head of International Business, VP Policy (industry body), Geopolitical Risk Advisor, Country Manager

Where to verify placement claims: ask Chandigarh University for its most recent placement report, in writing, covering your specific programme and mode. Online cohorts are often reported separately from on-campus ones, or not at all. EdifyEdu does not publish employer lists we cannot source, so treat the roles above as the job families this syllabus maps to, not as a record of who has hired from this cohort.

Skills You Develop

You should finish able to read the political environment a business operates in and translate it into commercial consequence.

International Political Economy and Geopolitics and Business cover the analytical frame: how state interests shape trade, investment and technology access, and how to assess exposure to a political shift rather than only to a market one.

Trade and Economic Diplomacy covers negotiation between states and the commercial arrangements that follow, including how business interests get represented in them.

Global Governance and International Organisations covers the institutional layer and what it can and cannot compel.

International Trade Law and Dispute Resolution covers the rules on market access, trade remedies such as anti-dumping, and the mechanisms for resolving disputes. Foreign Policy Analysis covers how state decisions are actually made, which is useful for anticipating them.

How Chandigarh University Compares for International Relations

Comparing Chandigarh Online MBA International Relations against peer programmes:

vs JNU or Jawaharlal Nehru University IR programmes: JNU is the premier academic institution for international relations research. CU's MBA in International Relations is the right choice for business professionals who want IR knowledge within a management credential framework, not for academic IR research careers.

vs Amity Online MBA International Business: Amity offers International Business but not a dedicated International Relations specialisation. CU's IR specialisation adds foreign policy analysis, global governance, and geopolitics and business subjects that a pure International Business track does not cover.

vs MBA with International Business specialisation at other online universities: CU's dedicated IR specialisation with Trade Diplomacy, Geopolitics and Business, and International Trade Law subjects is more specific for government affairs, trade policy, and geopolitical risk roles than a generic International Business MBA. NIRF Management rank 32 and PwC Government advisory co-teaching (Tier 2) differentiate CU in this niche.
