- ✓What is the Amrita online application portal?
- ✓How do I apply to Amrita Online?
- ✓Is there an entrance test for the Amrita online MBA?
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham runs its online degrees as Amrita Online, which also appears on its pages as Amrita AHEAD. Its application portal opens on an enquiry form, not an application form, and that confuses many first-time applicants.
Short answer: the official portal is admission.onlineamrita.com. You fill in the enquiry form, create a login, then submit the application with your Aadhaar card, ABC ID and DEB ID. An admission counsellor helps you create the two IDs.
Amrita says the MBA and BBA take no entrance test, and every exam is online and remotely proctored on a Windows computer.
- Official portal: admission.onlineamrita.com
- IDs needed: Aadhaar, ABC ID and DEB ID
- Entrance test: none for the MBA or BBA; merit-based review
- Exams: online, remote proctoring, Windows only
- UGC-entitled online programmes, 2026-27: 10
How do you apply on the Amrita Online portal?
Amrita Online's FAQ describes the process in three moves. The portal home page adds that payments go only through its own secure link.
- Start on the portal or a programme page. admission.onlineamrita.com opens with an enquiry form: your name, phone, email, programme type, course and specialisation. Existing applicants use the Login link under the form.
- Submit the application form with your Aadhaar card, ABC ID and DEB ID on the portal.
- Work with your admission counsellor. Amrita says a counsellor guides you through the whole application, including creating the DEB ID and the ABC ID.
Pay only through admission.onlineamrita.com. The portal itself says no other payment method is accepted.
You can create the DEB ID yourself before the counsellor calls. Our explainer on the UGC-DEB ID shows the steps on the DEB portal.
What is the eligibility for each Amrita online programme?
Amrita Online states eligibility on each programme page. As read on 6 November 2026:
| Programme | Eligibility on Amrita Online's pages |
|---|---|
| MBA | Bachelor's degree of at least 3 years, minimum 50% aggregate; final-year students may apply with their last completed semester results |
| MCA | Any bachelor's degree, with Mathematics at Class 12 or graduation level; final-year students may apply |
| BBA, BCA, B.Com | Class 12 or a 3-year diploma, minimum 45% aggregate |
Work experience is not required, though Amrita says it gives an added advantage. Applicants with foreign education need a certificate of equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities. For the BCA, the FAQ lists the Class 10 and Class 12 (or diploma) certificates, a passport-size photograph and the Aadhaar card as uploads.
Which Amrita online programmes are UGC-entitled?
For the 2026-27 July session, the UGC-DEB HEI programme register lists ten online programmes at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a deemed university recorded under Tamil Nadu:
| Level | Programmes (as named in the register) |
|---|---|
| Undergraduate | BBA, BCA, B.Com |
| Postgraduate | MBA, MCA, M.Com, MSc (Mathematics), MA (Communication), MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), MA (Philosophy) |
The admission portal markets six of these: BBA, BCA, B.Com, MBA, MCA and M.Com. If you want one of the four MA or MSc programmes, ask the counsellor in writing whether it is open for your session.

How do exams and refunds work at Amrita Online?
Amrita Online's MBA FAQ says every assessment runs online with remote proctoring, so you never visit a campus. Evaluation has two parts: continuous assessment through the semester and an end-semester exam.
End-semester exams need a Windows laptop or PC. The FAQ says macOS devices are not supported, so a MacBook owner needs a second machine before the first exam.
On refunds, Amrita says it follows the UGC policy:
- 15 days or more before the admission closing date: 100%, less a processing fee
- Within 15 days before the closing date: 90%
- Within 15 days after the closing date: 80%
- More than 15 days after: 50%
- More than 30 days after: no refund
The application fee is not refundable in any case. Our guide to the UGC fee refund policy explains where these bands come from. Fees differ by programme and specialisation, so read the current schedule on each programme page and keep a copy with your receipt.
