  • Is the DDU Gorakhpur online MBA valid?
  • Why is the DDU online MBA so much cheaper than private options?

Last updated 23 August 2026 by Rishi Kumar, Senior Education Researcher and Founder, EdifyEdu. An online MBA from a NAAC A++ university for Rs 52,500 sounds like a typo. It is not.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is a state university in Uttar Pradesh, and state universities price online degrees on a completely different logic from private ones. The catch is not the fee. It is what the fee does not buy, and the fact that DDU publishes no fee list at all.

What Rs 52,500 Looks Like Next to the Private Options

The number only means something in context. Here it is against the two private online MBAs we reviewed most recently, both of which also hold NAAC A++.

Three NAAC A++ online MBAs, three very different prices Total programme fee, verified against each university DDU Gorakhpur Rs 52,500 CGPA 3.78, state university Parul University Rs 1,50,000 Bharati Vidyapeeth Rs 1,78,000 DDU costs about a third of Parul and under a third of Bharati Vidyapeeth, on a higher NAAC score than either.

All three hold NAAC A++. DDU's CGPA of 3.78 is above Bharati Vidyapeeth at 3.60 and Parul at 3.55.

Read that carefully, because the obvious conclusion is the wrong one. A higher NAAC score at a third of the price does not make DDU strictly better. It makes it a different kind of purchase, and the next two sections explain what you trade away.

On EMI. At Rs 52,500 for two years the question mostly goes away, which is the quiet advantage of a state university. If you still want to spread it, ask admissions what instalment schedule they run. The portal states no EMI terms and no lender.
All fees here are indicative, and the portal publishes none. DDU's online portal lists the programmes but prints no fee table anywhere. The figures above were confirmed directly with the university and are accurate as of 23 August 2026. Fees at state universities move with government notifications, so confirm the current number in writing before you pay. Verify the university's approval status at deb.ugc.ac.in.

Do Not Confuse the Online Programme With the Campus One

This trips up most people researching DDU, and it is worth two minutes.

DDU runs regular on-campus degrees admitted through the DDU entrance exam, with their own separate fee structure. It also runs online degrees through its Centre for Distance and Online Education, which is a different route with different pricing and no entrance exam.

Search for DDU MBA fees and you will mostly find the campus numbers. Those figures are real, but they describe a programme you would attend in Gorakhpur. If you are looking at the online degree, the campus fee tells you nothing useful.

Same university, two different products. Check which one a page is quoting before you compare anything.

What the Low Fee Does Not Buy

No AICTE listing. None of DDU's online programmes carry an AICTE listing in our records. For most private-sector hiring that changes nothing, since UGC-DEB approval is what establishes the degree's validity. If your employer or a specific government recruitment rule asks for AICTE, this is where a programme like Bharati Vidyapeeth's online MBA earns its higher price.

No published placement support. The portal makes no placement claim at all. That is more honest than an unbacked guarantee, but it means you should plan on running your own job search.

At this price that is a reasonable trade. At Rs 1,78,000 it would not be.

Thinner information generally. No fee table, no semester breakdown, no eligibility detail, no scholarship rules published online. You will be doing more asking than you would with a private university whose entire operation is built around online admissions.

What the extra money actually buys Same NAAC A++ grade on all three. The difference is everything around the degree. Verified against each university's official portal and our accreditation records, August 2026. Specialisation counts are as listed by each university for its online MBA.

The Other Programmes Are Where It Gets Interesting

The MBA gets the searches, but look at the rest of the catalogue.

MA at Rs 30,500 and M.Sc Mathematics at the same price are among the cheapest postgraduate degrees from a NAAC A++ institution you will find anywhere in India. The official portal lists MA in Political Science, English, Education, Economics and Sociology.

The B.Com Honours is a four-year degree at Rs 56,500, which works out cheaper per year than the three-year BBA at Rs 57,500. If you are choosing between them on cost alone, the Honours route is better value and the extra year carries NEP credit weight.

For a teaching or research path, or for a candidate who needs a recognised postgraduate qualification without a large outlay, the MA and M.Sc are the strongest things on this page.

Who Should Apply and Who Should Not

APPLY IF Budget is the binding constraint and you still want NAAC A++ You need a valid UGC-DEB degree for eligibility or a promotion You will run your own job search and do not need placement help The MA or M.Sc at Rs 30,500 is what you actually want A state university degree suits your sector DO NOT APPLY IF Your employer or a recruitment rule asks for AICTE You are counting on placement support to change jobs You want a private brand name on the certificate You expect fast, online-first admissions and support You need a wide specialisation menu to pick from

Decision matrix based on the official portal, university-confirmed fees and verified accreditation records, August 2026.

Apply if the degree is the point

The clearest case is a candidate who needs a valid, well accredited postgraduate qualification and is paying for it themselves. A promotion that requires a master's. An eligibility bar for a government application.

A career change where you will do the networking yourself fits the same pattern. On all of those, Rs 52,500 from a NAAC A++ university is hard to argue with.

Skip it if you are buying the wrapper

If what you actually want is placement support, a recognisable private brand, a wide specialisation menu and a slick student experience, this is not that product and the low price is telling you so. Compare against the Parul online MBA at Rs 1,50,000 before deciding, and be honest about which one you are really buying.

Final Word

DDU Gorakhpur is the best pure value online MBA covered on this site so far. A NAAC A++ state university with a CGPA of 3.78, UGC-DEB approved, charging Rs 52,500 for a full two-year degree. The MA and M.Sc at Rs 30,500 are arguably better still. Nothing about the accreditation is weak, and the degree is valid nationally.

What you are giving up is service, not standing. No AICTE listing, no placement support, no published fee table and a portal that will not answer most of your questions. Go in expecting to phone the university and get things in writing, and the price makes complete sense. Start with the full DDU online MBA breakdown, and check the approval status yourself on our DDU verification page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rs 52,500 for the full two-year programme, confirmed directly with the university on 23 August 2026. DDU publishes no fee table on its online portal, so this figure came from the university rather than a published page. Fees at state universities change with government notification, so confirm the current number in writing before you pay.

Yes. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University is UGC-DEB approved for online delivery and its portal describes it as a UGC-entitled institution. It holds NAAC A++ at CGPA 3.78. The degree is valid nationally for employment and for further study. You can confirm the current approval status yourself at deb.ugc.ac.in.

Because it is a state university. State universities price online degrees on a different basis from private institutions. The trade is in services rather than standing: no AICTE listing, no published placement support, and much less published information. The accreditation itself is strong, with a NAAC CGPA of 3.78 that is higher than several private universities charging three times as much.

No. None of DDU's online programmes carry an AICTE listing in our records. For most private-sector hiring this changes nothing, since UGC-DEB approval establishes the degree's validity. If your employer or a specific government recruitment rule asks for AICTE, look at a programme that carries it and confirm in writing before enrolling.

The official portal lists B.Com Honours, BBA, MBA, M.Com, M.Sc Mathematics, and MA in Political Science, English, Education, Economics and Sociology. Confirmed fees are MBA Rs 52,500, BBA Rs 57,500, B.Com Honours Rs 56,500, MA Rs 30,500 and M.Sc Rs 30,500. The M.Com fee was not confirmed at the time of writing.

No, and this catches a lot of people out. DDU runs regular on-campus degrees admitted through the DDU entrance exam, with a separate fee structure, alongside online degrees through its Centre for Distance and Online Education. Most search results quoting DDU MBA fees describe the campus programme. If you are looking at the online degree, the campus fee is not comparable.

NAAC A++ at CGPA 3.78, awarded in the university's second assessment cycle and valid until 17 January 2030. That CGPA is higher than Bharati Vidyapeeth at 3.60 and Parul at 3.55, both of which charge substantially more for an online MBA.

The portal makes no placement claim. That is more honest than an unbacked guarantee, but it means you should plan to run your own job search. At Rs 52,500 that is a reasonable trade. If placement support is essential to your decision, budget for a programme that publishes what it actually provides.
