About This Specialisation

Healthcare management programmes often turn out to be general management with a healthcare case study attached. This one is built around how a hospital actually runs.

SSODL is the fully-online arm of Symbiosis International University in Pune, running since 2020-21 under UGC-DEB entitlement. The university holds NAAC A++ and sits at rank 11 in the NIRF Management category.

Semester 3 covers Fundamentals of Hospital Planning, Management of Hospital Clinical Services, Management of Hospital Supportive Services, and Organisation and Administration of Super Speciality Hospitals. Semester 4 adds MIS for Hospitals, Quality and Accreditation in the Healthcare Sector, IT Applications for Healthcare, and Community Health.

The split between clinical and supportive services is the tell that this was designed by people who know the building. Those are genuinely different management problems, and most curricula collapse them into one.

Quality and Accreditation is the other subject worth the fee if you work anywhere pursuing hospital accreditation, because that process consumes management attention for years.

Every SSODL specialisation shares the same Semester 3 and 4 spine: a research project in each semester, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Crisis Management in Business, Strategic Management, AI and ML for Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Global Business Environment, Conflict and Negotiation, Doing Business in India, and Business Transformation. The specialisation is what sits on top of that spine, which is usually four subjects in Semester 3 and four in Semester 4.

Fees quoted here are indicative and change between intakes. Confirm the current figure, the scholarship terms and what sits outside the tuition with SSODL in writing before you pay.

Skills You Develop

You should finish able to run a department in a hospital without being clinical yourself, and to hold your own with people who are.

Hospital Planning and the two services subjects cover layout, patient flow, staffing and the support functions that decide whether a ward runs: sterilisation, diet, records, biomedical maintenance. These are the areas where delay accumulates invisibly.

Quality and Accreditation covers the standards framework, documentation and audit discipline that an accreditation cycle demands, which is a project management problem as much as a clinical one.

MIS for Hospitals and IT Applications for Healthcare cover the information layer, from records systems to the reporting a management team needs. Community Health widens the frame to population outcomes, which matters if you work with public health programmes or insurance-linked schemes.
