About This Specialisation

Marketing specialisations have drifted toward digital channels, which suits people running campaigns and leaves people building brands short. This one keeps the brand-side weight.

SSODL is the fully-online arm of Symbiosis International University in Pune, running since 2020-21 under UGC-DEB entitlement. The university holds NAAC A++ and sits at rank 11 in the NIRF Management category.

Semester 3 covers Brand Management, Integrated Marketing Communication, Services Marketing and Retail Management. Semester 4 adds Marketing Analytics, Sales Force and Channel Management, Customer Relationship Management and Product Management.

Two things stand out. Product Management appears as a marketing subject, which is where it sits in consumer businesses even though technology firms treat it differently. And Sales Force and Channel Management is included, which matters because most Indian consumer businesses are won or lost in distribution rather than in advertising.

If you want a purely digital curriculum, this is not it. If you want to understand how a brand makes money, it is closer than most.

Every SSODL specialisation shares the same Semester 3 and 4 spine: a research project in each semester, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Crisis Management in Business, Strategic Management, AI and ML for Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Global Business Environment, Conflict and Negotiation, Doing Business in India, and Business Transformation. The specialisation is what sits on top of that spine, which is usually four subjects in Semester 3 and four in Semester 4.

Fees quoted here are indicative and change between intakes. Confirm the current figure, the scholarship terms and what sits outside the tuition with SSODL in writing before you pay.

Skills You Develop

You should come out able to hold a brand position under pressure, and to show what it earned.

Brand Management and Integrated Marketing Communication cover positioning, architecture and keeping a message consistent across channels that each want to bend it. Services Marketing handles the harder case where the product is an experience and quality varies by delivery.

Marketing Analytics is where the defence comes from: attribution, campaign measurement and the arithmetic that separates a campaign that worked from one that coincided with a good quarter.

Sales Force and Channel Management and Customer Relationship Management cover the distribution side, from channel design and incentive structure to retention economics. Product Management ties it together, covering how a proposition gets defined, priced and taken to market.
